3 docked in Lagos for gang-raping 15-year-old girl

The Lagos State Police Command says it has in its custody three men alleged to have gang-raped a 15-year-old girl at Itakete Imude in Ajangbadi, a suburb of Lagos.

The State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Edgal Imohimi, told newsmen on Wednesday that the suspects were arrested on June 1 at Ajangbadi.

According to Imohimi, the suspects allegedly blindfolded their victim with a red scarf and took turns to rape her in their room at 52, Jagua St., Itakete Imude in Ajangbadi.

“During interrogation, the suspects denied being cultists but confessed raping the teenager.

“But during the execution of a search warrant on their abode, one cutlass and one red scarf with which they allegedly blindfolded the girl were recovered in their room,” the CP said.

He said the suspects would soon be charged to court.

The commissioner also said that the command had arrested some persons suspected to be armed robbers in different parts of the state following information given to them by the public.

“Arrests of armed robbers in different parts of the state were made by eagle-eyed operatives of the command imbued with information freely given by good Nigerians who have come to identify with our community policing agenda.

“At Ejigbo, two suspects were arrested with cash sum of N48, 000 and one Nokia phone.

“At Awori Bus Stop in Abule-Egba, three traffic robbers, who were operating along Ikeja, Ogba and Abule-Egba axis with a Volkswagen Vanagon bus, painted in Lagos State commercial transport colour, were also arrested.

“The commercial bus marked LND 463 XU had also been recovered from them.

“Other exhibits recovered from the suspects are two registration number plates, three mobile phones, one hand chain and four watches,” he said.
