26-year-old student arraigned in court for beating man to coma

A 26-year-old student identified as Ehis Peter has been brought before a Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Abuja for allegedly beating one Oluwatosin Godwin to coma.

The suspect who resides in Kubwa was arraigned over charges bordering on criminal force, assault and theft; offences that contravened Sections 79, 265 and 286 of the Penal Code.

According to the police prosecutor, Lukas Ephraim, the plaintiff who resides in Byazhin across in Kubwa was reported at the Kubwa Police Station on March 19 that the he and  others now at large connived and beat the victim to a state of coma.

Ephraim also noted that the accused after beating their victim made away with this I-phones worth N204,000 and a wallet containing the cash sum of N6,730.

However the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges when read.

Consequently, the accused was granted bail by judge Mohammed Marafa, in the sum of N100,000 with one reasonable surety who must stay around the location of the court.

Marafa however adjourned the case till May 11 for hearing.
