A Dutse Magistrate’s court in Jigawa State has remanded a 23-year-old man, Sha’aibu Adamu, of Warwade village in Dutse local government for allegedly killing his wife with axe.
The prosecutor, Barr M.Fagam, told the court that Sha’aibu was accused of killing his wife, Usaina after she refused to comply with his request to settle their differences, which they earlier had in their matrimonial home.
He explained that the incident happened when she decided to move to her parents’ house and the accused person followed to plead with her in order to go back to his house. However, on her way Adamu allegedly used axe to strike her severally on forehead.
The prosecutor said after the incident, the accused left the late wife’s body in the bush and fled.
Magistrate Muhammad Lamin Usman said the Adamu committed culpable homicide, which is contrary with section 221 of the state sharia Court punishable to death after convictions.
The accused, however, denied the allegation, saying the deceased died at her parents house after she left his house when they had misunderstanding.
The magistrate, however, adjourned the case to March 27, 2019 for further hearing.
