A Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo state, had on Tuesday, sentenced a 22-year-old Gbenga Oladeru to one and half year imprisonment for stealing two motorcycles worth N380,000.
The accused was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
According to the charge, the prosecutor, Inspector Olalekan Obayanju, told the court that the defendant and a collaborator committed the crime on November 22, 2012 at Gbenla area of Ibadan.
The offence, according to the witness, was contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 30, Vol. II Laws of Oyo state of Nigeria , 2000.
Having being confronted with the charge, the accused who had earlier pleaded not guilty,later changed his plea.
He confessed during cross examination that he sold the motorcycle at Sabo area of Ibadan.
Chief Magistrate Adams Adeshina sentenced Oladeru to six months in prison on the first charge and one year in prison on the second charge, all without an option of fine.
The jail terms are to run concurrently.
