The apex Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Monday lambasted Second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Mohammed, or saying the presidency would elude the South East in 2023.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, Chuks Ibegbu, said northerners like Mohammed where the reasons the region was underdeveloped.
In a terse statement, Ibegbu “wondered whom Juanid Mohammed is representing as the North he is claiming to be speaking for did not send him to make such verbose claim nor is the North monolithic again.
“Its people like Junaid Mohammed that has kept the North underdeveloped with fixated and unbridled views.”
He wondered why Mohammed “takes every opportunity he has to make uncharitable and provocative comments on the Igbos in particular and the South in general
“Mohammed should turn a new leaf and stop preaching divisive mantra at his age when he should be a role model to Northern youths.”
Ibegbu also lambasted Anthony Sani, the Secretary General of Arewa Consultative Forum for his “fixated view against Restructuring of Nigeria.”
He stated that opposing restructuring was “even harmful to the North that need Restructuring the most.”
Ibegbu urged the “talakawas in the North not to allow these status quo elements to keep them down forever.”
