A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Delta State House of Assembly aspirant for Burutu Constituency II, Duduke Ebitimi has declared that there would be no automatic senatorial ticket for Emmanuel Uduaghan, should he defect to the party.
He said that APC already had a senatorial candidate who had been endorsed and accepted by party leaders and stakeholders in Delta South.
Ebitimi was reacting to a viral reports that the immediate past Governor of the State has concluded plans to join the APC this week.
Addressing reporters on the issue of reserving the senatorial seat for the former governor, Duduke said, “Uduaghan defecting to APC will be a big plus for the party in the state. We are going to welcome him into the party with open hands.
“However, there are people who have been in the party and have contributed to building the party in the state, and we have already endorsed some of them to contest key political offices in Delta South.
“We APC faithful in Delta South have endorsed and accepted Chief Michael Jonny to run for the senatorial seat. But that is not to say that anyone coming cannot aspire for political office on the platform of the party.
“We just want to make sure they are committed to the welfare of the party, not just to use it to fulfil their political ambition. They should first work for the success of the party in the upcoming election, following which they can be recommended for possible appointments.”
