2019: Why members of IPOB, MASSOB should vote during elections – Ohanaeze

The Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called on the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, to mobilise their members and participate in the upcoming elections.

Spokesperson of the body, Chuks Ibegbu said the wrong people may emerge if the people of the South East failed to perform their civic right.

In a statement forwarded to DAILY POST, on Thursday, Ibegbu said: “We call on Ndigbo to come out and vote enmasse in the oncoming elections and on no account should they boycott the elections.

“IPOB and MASSOB should mobilise their members and use their PVCs to remove unpopular governments at all levels instead of shunning the election.

“The boycott of the 2006 census as directed by Raph Uwazuruike made Ndigbo to be the minority of the majorities in Nigeria today, even when we are yet to get the Biafra they are talking of.

“Even if they will later get the Biafra , they are Nigerians for now and need to participate in Nigeria issues.

“If we fail to vote , winners will still emerge even with one vote and rule over us.

“As for the Referendum they are talking about , there are legal processes for that and its not something done without the consent of major stakeholders in the area including the National Assembly and also the international community. Let us not put our people in an obtuse situation.”
