2019: Why APGA is fielding northern presidential candidate – Ex-spokesman

The immediate past national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, has explained why his party, APGA, resolved to field a northern presidential candidate in the upcoming 2019 general election.

DAILY POST had last week reported that the Board of Trustees of APGA, after rising from a crucial deliberation in Awka, Anambra state, announced that the party will field a northern presidential candidate in the 2019 election.

Speaking with DAILY POST on Tuesday, Obi-Okoye explained that the party arrived at the decision to allow the North to complete their eight years tenure.

He said, “The Presidency is normally zoned to the North and South. Due to disobedience of zoning, it affected the PDP when former President Goodluck Jonathan ran against the zoning process of his party, PDP.

“For now, it is the turn of the north for the presidency which they have to complete in the next term. That informed our zoning of the Presidency to the North.

“North will complete their own eight years, the presidency will come over to the South in 2023.”
