The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has assured its members and Abians that they were working hard to ensure the party takes over power in the state come 2019.
The party explained that the APC’s quest to take over Abia in 2019 election was to provide the much desired good leadership, which according to them could not be provided by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
APC, in a statement issued to newsmen in Abia, on Thursday, by the state Publicity Secretary, Comrade Benedict Godson, dismissed talks in some quarters that there was internal wrangling in the party as a result of the just concluded congresses of the party.
The party said that those insinuating there were parallel congresses in the State were being mischievous and ignorant of the APC guidelines and internal mechanisms.
Part of the statement reads, “our attention has been drawn to talks by some unscrupulous elements, who go about saying that there was a parallel congress in Abia.
“They are being mischievous and ignorant of the party’s guidelines and internal mechanism.
“The NWC of the party has made a clear statement, stating that they will not recognize any parallel congress. Do you now see why we said that anybody who says there was a parallel congress in Abia is either ignorant is being out-rightly mischievous?
“The leadership of the party is effectively situated on the shoulders of our hard working and highly experienced state chairman, Chief Donatus Nwankpa and we cannot be distracted.
“APC in Abia state is assuring Abians and our party adherents that we are working hard to take over the reigns of power in Abia so as to provide Abians with the much desired good leadership that they have been starved of for over a decade by PDP.
“No amount of intimidation and propaganda can stop APC from liberating the state from the shackles of wicked leadership.
“The present APC elected exco is focused and directional and cannot be distracted.”
