2019: We are not perturbed with your alliance – Oyo Senator, Adesoji Akanbi tells PDP

The Senator representing Oyo South District, Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was not perturbed by the re-grouping of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts to capture the state in 2019.

Akanbi challenged the APC to come together and ensure “the continuity of progressives in power in the state beyond 2019”.

Akanbi, however, warned against the infiltration of non – progressive elements into the ruling APC in the state, saying such might jeopardize the desire to produce a progressive governor in 2019.

Going down the memory lane, Akanbi noted that some progressives in Oyo state laboured hard and remained consistent to ensure the return of progressives into power after the defeat of former governor of the state, Late Lam Adesina.

He said “I am one of those who sustained progressives in Oyo state. I remained in the progressive until we came back to power in 2011. I used my resources, my time and my energy to keep the progressives intact.

“We must all work together to ensure the continuity of progressives in power in Oyo state. We must ensure that the next governor comes from the progressives. We have enough achievements to campaign in 2019.”

He said for many years after the defeat of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 2003, only few progressives, including himself, remained resolute and consistent until the return of the progressives into power in 2011.

Akanbi also maintained that with the performance of incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi, progressives in the state had enough achievements to showcase in the 2019 electoral campaign.
