Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Chairman of South East senate Caucus, has declared that anyone who attaches himself to President Muhammadu Buhari for re-election is not fit.
Abaribe, who is a Senator from Abia South made the remark while condemning his colleagues who opposed the amendment to the Electoral Act regarding election sequence in the 2019 general elections.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja, the lawmaker said those opposing the amendment of the electoral act constitute those who cannot win elections except they climb on the back of Buhari.
According to Abaribe, “Anybody who attaches himself to Buhari for re-election is not fit, abinitio, to be a Senator.
“It is high time politicians stopped riding on the back of some political establishments or parties to win elections in Nigeria.”
The National Assembly conference committee had harmonised the different versions of the passed bill from the two chambers now ready for onward submission to the president for assent.
Some Senators on the platform of the All Progressives Congress senators had on Wednesday opposed the amendment, which they said was targeted at Buhari.
