2019 Presidential ticket: Again PDP holds meeting with Saraki, Atiku others

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will meet with its presidential aspirants and key stakeholders on Friday, to deliberate on a wide range of issues, particularly the conduct of the convention.

This was made known by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

Among the 13 aspirants jostling for the sole presidential ticket of the party are a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo; a former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; a former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa.

Others are President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki; a former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark; a former Minister of Special Duties and Inter Governmental Relations, Tanimu Turaki (SAN); a former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jona Jang; and a former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

Ologbondiyan said that others “expected at the meeting are a former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed.”

According to him, “the meeting would centre on mode of the convention and the delegates’ list.

“The meeting will be attended by members of the Board of Trustees and other caucuses and will be presided over by National Chairman, Uche Secondus.”
