The lawmaker representing Yenagoa/Kolokuna/ Opokuma federal constituency of Bayelsa State at the lower legislative chamber, Hon. Douye Diri, has raised worries that Late Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha would not be happy in his grave if the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar fails at the 2019 general polls.
Diri, who is runing for a senatorial seat in the 2019 election, said this when his campaign team visited Amassoma Community, the country home of Late Alamieyeseigha, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
He further explained that Atiku has been a bosom friend and that Alamieyeseigha has been at the forefront of those that wanted Atiku to be President.
He said for this reason, PDP’s victory should be the priority of every Bayelsan.
He said, “Amassoma is my second home and so my visit is like a homecoming. From the days of.
“Alamieyeseigha down to today, Amassoma has never voted otherwise and therefore Amassoma is PDP’s haven.
“Our visit here today also symbolizes the renewal of PDP’s ties with Amassoma community. This is because the soul of Late Alamieyeseigha will not rest in peace if PDP fails.
“Atiku has been a bosom friend of Alamieyeseigha who has always been one of those who wanted him (Atiku) to be President.
“Today Alamieyeseigha is no more but his grave would be very happy to see Atiku become the President of Nigeria.
“His grave would also be happy to see those of us from PDP contesting the 2019 General Election to emerge victorious at the polls.”
