The Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has disclosed that a vote for the All Progressives Congress candidates and President Muhammadu Buhari in the coming election will be a vote for the continued relevance of the Yoruba nation in the country’s polity
He also said that the state would collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and other relevant agencies of the Federal Government to ensure a hitch-free, credible and free election.
DAILY POST reports that the governor, who is also the candidate of the APC for Oyo South Senatorial District, disclosed this during the party’s campaign rally at Lalupon, in Lagelu Local Government Area of the state, in continuation of its electioneering ahead of the coming election.
He used the occasion to present the APC governorship candidate, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and other APC candidates, including the candidates for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin, House of Representatives and State Assembly.
Ajimobi warned that the full weight of the law would be brought down on any person or group of persons that might attempt to disrupt the peace of the state before, during and after the elections.
He said, “Our party had painstakingly chosen the best candidates; the bright, the efficient and the effective for the governorship, senatorial, House of Reps and State Assembly positions. They will do the state proud if elected into offices.
“That is why I have the confidence to sell their candidature and seek your votes for the APC in the coming elections. I have not disappointed you and you know I will not associate with people with mediocre abilities. Please vote for APC for the good of Oyo State.
“I similarly appeal to you to preach the gospel of APC to your mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends and families. Only the APC has the best programme capable of enhancing your socio-economic life.
“Particularly, I urge you to cast your vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo. A vote for them will be a vote for the continued relevance and prominence of the Yoruba nation in the Nigerian polity.”
Speaking at the occasion, Adelabu said that his wealth of experience, zeal, youthful energy and pedigree has put him in a better stead to succeeed Ajimobi.
He assured the people that a vote for him would be a vote for the sustenance of the achievements of Ajimobi, adding that he would open up the state for greater development if elected.
