President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday told Nigerians that Boko Haram, which has been a major security concern for his administration has been decimated.
Buhari, who is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, spoke at the MKO Democracy Park, Akure, the Ondo State capital during his campaign rally for his re-election bid at the forthcoming poll slated for February 16.
The President, who hinged his manifesto on security, economy and fight against corruption, maintained that enormous feats have been achieved compared to what it used to before he came on board in 2015.
“Before we came on board, Boko Haram was having a field day in attacking soft targets and using young boys and girls for their nefarious and criminal activities, but under our government, we have curbed it to the minimum,” Buhari said.
He appealed that the people of Ondo State should vote for him at the polls in order to complete what he had started, particularly at defeating the Boko Haram insurgency finally, as well as the fight against corruption.
Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who was also part of the campaign train to Ondo State, maintained that his boss, President Buhari was concerned about employment for the youth, hence, the reason behind the establishment of the N-Power scheme.
According to Osinbajo, the people of Ondo State stand to benefit a lot when they vote in President Buhari at the polls, as the state has been penciled down among the states to be incorporated in the railway project of the current administration.
“Through N-power, we have been able to empower 500,000 youths. We are taking it to 1.5 million in the next level.
“When the railway project begins, many would be gainfully engaged, likewise the ongoing road project, hence the reason you must vote APC at the presidential poll.,” Osinbajo added.
While stating that PDP should not be considered at the polls due to what he described as the party’s corrupt tendency, Osinbajo maintained that, “we are also targeting to ensure that everyone get electricity. Some towns that have been in black out for over five years have now been restored with power.
“In our next level project, we will up the school feeding program, which has already been a huge success. Even with the project, our farmers are now smiling because they have being the one supplying all the items needed.
“Corruption led us to our present situation, and I appeal to you all that you should not let us go back there. Ensure you vote the APC.”
According to the APC National Chairman, Adam Oshiomhole, “Buhari cares for the poor, he’s ensured that the children of the poor have access to education as well as access free meal at school. But Obasanjo and Jonathan never took care of the poor.
“When Buhari came on board, he maintained that Nigeria must produce what she consumes. But you all know that the policy has been the best ever.
Oshiomhole, who lashed out the PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over his recent comments, urged the people to mindful of whom they give their votes to at the poll.
“Atiku stated that he will enrich his friends, that he will sell the NNPC. You all know that that is not reasonable enough. But you are not his friends.
“He also told the people when he went to campaign in the east that he will construct the second Niger Bridge, which we have already started. He even mentioned that he will do that because of his wife,” he added.
