President Muhammadu Buhari has come under attack over the presence of Republic of Niger Governors at his Presidential rally in Kano.
DAILY POST had reported that Governors Issa Moussa of Zinder and Zakiri Umar of Maradi States, both from the Republic of Niger, were in Kano State to rally support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.
The Governors were seen wearing APC attires just as members of the APC presidential campaign team in Kano.
Their presence has since stirred controversies online as some Nigerians lamented the interference of Niger in the 2019 election.
Others queried Buhari’s government for rejecting interference from UK, EU yet allowed Niger Governors into the country.
Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:
@AuditorSun “Now we know how easy it is to import people from Niger Republic to vote. Election rigging is another form of corruption in Nigeria.”
@John_danfulani “Buhari and Ganduje invited govt officials of Niger Republic for their Kano rally. Is that not a violation of our electoral laws? Isnt that a case of collusion with foreigners to subvert the electoral decision of Nigerians? This is hyper nasty and scandalous to be real.”
@AsodanAsoso “This is really sad for Nigeria! Campaigns should be purely an internal affairs. Shame on APC.”
@Partyduks “This means foreigners are gonna be voting in 2019 elections. Otherwise why are they clad in APC attire? Let the rigging begin.”
@Joe4Milan “They want to send their people across the border from Niger Republic to vote for Buhari.”
@Braveheartunes “Please who else doesn’t understand why people from Niger Republic have come to campaign in Nigeria. When the US/UK commented on the down low political strategies of APC they all said Nigeria was a sovereign nation. Has it lost its sovereignty now?
@Hailfinger1 “Governors of Zinder and Maradi from Niger Republic in Kano today to attend Buhari’s campaign rally. Now you know where the 1.9m votes came from in 2015 and the 7m votes promised by Ganduje will come from.Nigeria is now officially a huge joke under this APC govt of Buhari.”
@Nnamdiia “The precedence PMB is setting is really disruptive, on what bases are Niger governors joining the campaign.”
@Ezekielizedonmi “Shouldn’t they be chased away for interfering in Nigeria’s internal affairs?
@JohnAko “So they are allowing Niger to meddle but won’t listen to US, UK and the EU.”
@feggeborn “It is no longer a secret that Buhari has incorporated his ancestral home Niger Republic into the affairs of Nigeria, railway from Daura to Niger, refinery for Niger crude oil, if governors from Niger Rep can attend campaign rally definitely their people will vote on election day.”
@Ekeneray “It’s becoming obvious why Fulani herdsmen are coming into Nigeria from Niger Republic. No wonder why a man that has a cattle ranch can’t support ranching. Next will be Niger people voting in Kano. After all, there is no means of identifying who is a Nigerian. There was a country.”
@Jurbegotep “Is that not interference with the internal affairs of another country. Not to mention the citizens of that country who were in the crowd and those that registered to vote.”
