2019 Presidency: Ndigbo have spoken with one voice – Zikist-Buhari Movement

A pro-President Muhammadu Buhari group, the Zikist-Buharist-Movement (ZBM), on Thursday declared that the warm reception accorded to the President and his team during his campaign visit to the Southeast was an eloquent testimony that the people were with him.

They made the declaration at a press briefing addressed at their Enugu campaign office, by the ZBM Chairman, Rt.Hon Stanley Ohajuruka, represented by the secretary, Barr. Godwin Onwusi.

Also present at the press briefing were the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu as well as a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Chief Anike Nwoga.

Onwusi said the essence of the media briefing was “to thank the Governors, Traditional Rulers and good people of the South East for the royal and rousing reception they accorded President Muhammadu Buhari during his presidential campaign visit to the geopolitical zone in the last seven days.”

He said “the ZBM is overwhelmed not only by the large turn out, warm and sincere reception, but by the Bi-Partisanship cordial goodwill demonstrated by non-APC Governors of the South East, in spite of the vile shenanigans of Chief John Nnia Nwodo Cabal faction of Ohaneze leadership.

“ZBM commendation is anchored on the truism that the uncommon warm reception accorded Buhari by the Governors, Traditional Rulers and good people of the South East, is reminiscent of the Zik’s prototype of politics. Hence we salute our leaders and good people.

“We cannot easily forget how the great Zik of Africa, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe,, the Owelle of Onitsha and first patron of Ohaneze, constructed the famous East-North political alliances in 1960 and 1979; which had remained our most glorious era in Nigerian politics.

“It is our considered opinion that Ndigbo can do better by producing Nigeria president of Igbo extraction in 2023, so let’s repeat the glorious history, for our elders admonished that if the journey is successful we pass through the route again.

“Our brethren, voting for Buhari is the renewal of Zik’s alliance with the North, where Buhari’s Vote-Bank of 10-12 million voters is dominance. His re-election is the surest and quickest route to Nigeria president of Igbo extraction in 2023.

“ZBM will not fail to point out that the reception accorded Buhari by the Governors, Traditional Rulers and the good people of the South East; will naturally strengthen our ties and reinforces more infrastructural development like the Eastern Corridor Railways in the region.”

Speaking on restructuring, the group said “we have gone through pages 152 and 153 of AtikuPlan and noticed that the plan is opaque on restructuring and not as robust as propagated. Therefore the best option is to strategically and pragmatically bid for president in 2023.

“In sum, we sincerely thank South East Governors, Traditional Rulers and our good people for the honour they accorded Mr President and appeal that they extend the same goodwill by voting for Buhari in the presidential election.”
