2019: PDP accuses APC of plotting to unleash violence during election in Bauchi

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has alleged that it has uncovered a plot by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to disrupt the 2019 general election in Bauchi state through the use of violence to win the polls.

The opposition party also slammed Governor Mohammed Abubakar for allegedly training sinister groups ahead of next year’s election.

Bauchi state PDP spokesman, Yayanuwa Zainabari stated this to DAILY POST in Bauchi on Thursday.

He however vowed that the party will resist any attempt by the ruling party to rig the election, in contravention of appropriate laws guiding elections in the country.

“We are aware that the APC is having sleepless nights in an attempt to cause violence in Bauchi state during the 2019 election. There are sinister groups including police said to have been trained to assist the ruling party during 2019 election,” Zainabari alleged.

He cautioned that any move that can create violence at the polls will be unacceptable and resisted by voters.

The publicity secretary assured that the PDP will work to ensure that next year’s election in the state is credible and peaceful.

Reacting to the alleged training of sinister groups for the election, the Bauchi state Police Command distanced itself from the claim, describing the allegation as an attempt to ridicule its hard-earned reputation.

DSP Datti Abubakar, the Command’s spokesman, in a chat with our correspondent in Bauchi, stated that police authorities have trained its men ahead of the 2019 election, saying he has no idea of the training of any sinister group by an organisation.

“Our normal duty is to protect life and property apart from any duty assigned by the Inspector-General,” he said.

Abubakar called on political parties to report their complaints to the police instead of rushing to the media with allegations.
