Reno Omokri, a former aide to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to a statement by the Presidency declaring President Muhammadu Buhari fit for a second term after he reportedly trekked 800m in Daura, Katsina State.
Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on Tuesday said that the 800 metres trek embarked upon by the president from the Eid ground to his private residence in Daura, Katsina State was an indication that he was fit enough to seek re-election in 2019.
But reacting to Shehu’s statement, Omokri said a President only deserves a second term when he can ‘work’ and not just by walking 800metres.
He argued that Goodluck Jonathan jogs five times the distance covered by Buhari.
Omokri on his Twitter page wrote: “Garba Shehu says we should vote for Buhari for a second term because he walked 800 meters today. Really?
“Jonathan jogs five times that number and is very fit and agile. A President only deserves a second term because he can WORK, not because he can WALK.”
