Ahead of the March gubernatorial election in Abia state, the Nigerian Peoples Congress (NPC) has adopted the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Uchechukwu Ogah as their sole candidate in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
The party also adopted all the APC candidates in the state vying for various elective seats in the coming election.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the submission of the letter by the Abia chapter of the NPC to the Abia leadership of APC on Thursday, the chairman of Nigerian Peoples Congress(NPC) in the state, Enwerem Winema, said the leadership of NPC arrived at decision to support the APC enthrone the needed change in the state come March 2019.
According to Winema, “What is worth doing, is worth doing well. We need change in Abia. The people of the state have suffered, because of, not being paid salaries by the ruling PDP-led government in the state.
“For instance, my wife is a pensioner, for thirteen months, she has not seen anything. And we know, what people are passing through in Abia state.
“We want a true change. Having known that is good to be a good leader, I want to be a pacesetter by coming down to adopt all the APC candidates. And also, to have a good dialogue with them, on how to move Abia forward in a better position”.
Responding after receiving the letter from the State leadership of the NPC, the APC chairman in Abia state, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, thanked the state chapter of Nigerian Peoples Congress (NPC) for their courage to join the progressives in enthroning good governance in the state come March 2019.
He said, “APC will not let you down. We will reciprocate their support for you. And we are determined to work together for a better Abia.
“And I want to tell you that many more political parties are coming to join this project”.
