2019: NOA warns voters about Ghana-must-go politicians

The National Orientation Agency, NOA in Bauchi State has cautioned the electorate in Bauchi state against collecting money from those it termed Ghana-must-go politicians during next year’s elections.

The State Director of the Agency, Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi gave the advice Friday at the flaggoff of sensitization campaign on Voter Education organized by the agency in collaboration with the Bauchi State Islamiyya School Teachers Association.

Kobi pointed out that collecting money from politicians during elections is motivating them not to provide citizens with the required social amenities.

According to him, the importance of voter education cannot be over emphasized, especially in ensuring free and credible elections.

The NOA Director, who attributed the low turnout of people during previous elections, to inadequate voter education, said the campaign would ensure their active involvement in the electoral process.

He enjoined politicians to focus attention on their manifestos during their campaigns for peaceful conduct of the general elections.

A guest speaker at the occasion, an Associate Professor with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Dalhat Bala Suleiman identified poverty as one of the factors responsible for vote buying and described good governance as remedy for addressing the challenges militating against the development of the nation’s political system.

He urge politician to live above board while in office and blamed poor leadership on voters who collect money to vote.
