Mohammed Ibrahim Idris, the son of a former Governor of Kogi State, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Mohammed defected to the APC in 2016 from the PDP.
While making his decision public on Wednesday in Seke, his ancestral home ward, Mohammed said that he “returned to the PDP nine months ago” and was merely formalising his membership.
The former Governor’s son explained further that his decision was due to his renewed conviction that the APC has failed the people, both at the federal and (Kogi) state levels.
Mohammed added that the APC had sank to a level where it was “beyond redemption” and will not be able to “regain the confidence the people had” in them and which brought them to power.
He vowed to work closely with the leadership of the PDP to ensure it returns to power in the state come 2019.
