2019: Kogi East snubs Buhari, endorses Atiku, others

Kogi group under the aegis of Igala / Bassa leadership Forum has endorsed the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) for the February 16, 2019, presidential poll.

The group also threw her weights behind all the candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming general elections.

In a communique at the end of the enlarged meeting held at Ankpa , headquarters of Ankpa LGA of the State on Sunday, and signed by Dr. Odekina John, it noted with distraught the abysmal performance of the APC-led government in the centre and in kogi state.

The spokesman of the forum called for unflinching support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and all her candidates in the forthcoming elections in Kogi state.

Odekina stated that in view of the continuous sufferings and pitiable plights of the people of Kogi East, the entire sons and daughters of the zone have resolved to adopt Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP as their presidential candidate.

He added that the forum took the decision based on their conviction that Atiku Abubakar has all it takes to restore Igala kingdom and the country at large to the path of economic prosperity.

” Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of PDP has been adopted Presidential candidate by the entire people of Kogi East. We call on all sons and daughters of Igala / Bassa nation to come out en masse to vote for PDP flag bearers in the National and state Assembly elections.

” The Igala-Bassa nation is enjoined to rise up and take a front position in Kogi political climate and redeem the Kogi East from the impoverished and enslaved plights that the APC government has brought on our people,” he solicited.

While calling on the people to unite against party lines to support the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, he lamented that the zone has suffered neglect in the three and half years of APC led government.

Those in attendance include representatives from all the nine Local Government Areas in Kogi East district, including stakeholders from major political parties that are fielding candidates in the Saturday general elections from the area.

It could be recalled that some group of elders, political leaders and captain of industry from Kogi East Senatorial District had also resolved to promote the interests of PDP candidates in the area.
