2019: JMPP presidential candidate, others take ‘dangerous oath’ against being corrupt if

The Justice Must Prevail Party, JMPP, presidential candidate, Apostle Sunday Chikendu Chukwu Ezuzolugo on Wednesday placed himself under a ‘dangerous oath’ not to get involved in corruption if elected as President in 2019.

Taking the oath at a special ceremony, which was organised by the party for all candidates contesting elections on the JMPP platform, Chikendu lamented that corruption thrives to high heavens despite the religious beliefs of political leaders.

He said political leaders in Nigeria disguised as religious to take “oath of allegiance with the Bible or Quoran, but perpetuate corruption in office” .

Dressed in white jacket and bare-footed while publicly reciting a prepared oath, he asked “the nature to strike him dead in office, if he uses the office of the President to indulge in corruption.”

Part of the oath read, “That whatever I ate in the course of corruption in office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should turn into poison in my body.”

Explaining why he was going that far, he said believers of the two major religious faiths have failed Nigerians while in office, stating that it was only the Justice Must Prevail Party, JMPP, that administers the 12 pillars of oath to its candidates in order to nip corruption in the bud.

The presidential candidate added that politicians have been deceptive with political promises, stressing that JMPP believes in making covenant with the people.

He was however optimistic that he would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, and that of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar come 2019.

“It is not about crime and you said, Nigeria is going to crash. What solves the problem of corruption is the 12 pillars of oath that I have just taken”.

He carpeted President Buhari’s integrity claim, saying the APC government has been enmeshed in corruption.

“It is not about integrity. This is the medicine o…for integrity which is the oath I have taken against corruption which cures all about abominations in political office.

“While other parties operate on promises, JMPP operates on covenant with the people.”

Speaking, the former Special Adviser to the President on Ethics, Mrs Sarah Jubril assured Nigerians that, candidates on JMPP platform were credible enough to lead the nation.

She added that the oath which they were subjected to was in line with the party’s ideologies.

The ceremony witnessed all contestants on the JMPP platform across the country taking the same 12 pillars of oath ahead of the 2019 polls.
