The spokesman of the Bauchi state chapter of the Green Party of Nigeria, GPN, Umar Mai Peto has announced his exit from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He made the declaration while briefing journalists in Bauchi on Friday.
Peto explained that his defection to APC followed lack of internal democracy in the GPN, adding that the party is less popular and acceptable in the state.
“From today, I have declared my exit from GPN to APC apparently to join my boss and political mentor in APC, former governor Yuguda,” he said.
The former GPN spokesman described his former party as one rocked by crisis and cannot stand the test of 2019 election, which according to him, informed his exit.
The party was recently reported to have sacked Umar Mai Peto from office, accusing him of engaging in anti-party activities.
GPN was founded in Bauchi state by former governor Isa Yuguda who contested for the Senate seat and lost to Senator Yahaya Gumau in the recent bye-election.
