Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has warned Akwa Ibom youths against allocating political offices when the governor has not done so yet.
Speaking at the funeral ceremony of the late Elder Isong Ntuen, the father of Bishop Emma Isong in Ikono local government area, Udom regretted that the youths have started allocating various political offices to people even when he has not done so.
He said, “In political field, even political arena, don’t speak if the Governor does not speak, the youths, don’t speak when the Governor does not speak.
“Don’t allocate offices when Governor has not allocated offices, wait for the Governor. I am aware some of you have started allocating offices, National Assembly, State Assembly, so which one will the governor allocate,” he asked.
The governor praised the late Ntuen, stating that the funeral ceremony of father of Bishop Emma Isong was one in a million and that he has not witness such ceremony in his life time.
He said that many abandoned roads and hospital in the area have been completed and commissioned by his government.
“Some of the roads that were opened and abandoned, I have done them with street lights, even hospital that were occupied by reptiles today they are modern hospitals,” he said.
Governor Udom regretted that the people have not celebrated him despite what he has done for them, “Even Ikono don’t want to celebrate me today, I will be back here in May for Ikono people to celebrate me.”
He said that the remaining abandoned roads have been handed over to contractors and they will soon be completed and commissioned, “I have put contractors and I will really really make sure that they are completed and commissioned”.
The governor thanked the people of Ikono for supporting the work he has done in the area, “So let me thanked Ikono youths also for their show of understanding. All the things we have done here, you guys have not disturb us one day,” he said.
