2019: Gov. Ayade has made our work easier – APC

The Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, Hon Cletus Obun has claimed that the abysmal performance of the incumbent Governor, Ben Ayade will make the 2019 election an easy ride for his party, the APC.

Obun, who spoke to DAILY POST on Thursday in Ugep in Yakurr local government area of the state, shortly after the meeting of the Central Executive Council, Central Senatorial District said the APC was already moving forward to take governance from Governor Ayade.

“The Party is already moving toward mobilizing for the election and that mobilization is in different faces and different sides and is being strategically handled.

“It is for that reasons, we have decided that, it’s very important for us to, as much as possible avoid media campaign on the strategy that we want to use.

“We have set up all the organs and inaugurated all. The only one that has not been inaugurated which is the most critical is the polling unit executive; we will inaugurate it this January”, he said.

“The era of politics of writing and announcing the result is gone and gone for good”, he added.

On the chances of the APC winning the incumbent Governor in the forth coming elections, Obun said, “Yes, the Governor Ayade has virtually surrendered to APC but electoral process is not an apple that you just plug and eat.

“There is much work to go into that. The APC has 70% chance of winning the elections in Cross River State, we have the party structure, and we are more than 90% set to go for elections.”

On why the meeting was held in Ugep, he said, “We have by our constitution, a quarterly meeting of the APC central senatorial district. To this end, we meet once in every quarter in the year, this is the first quarter and we rotate it for the purpose of mobilization amongst the six local government areas in the senatorial district of the state.

“Incidentally and happily, one of our very top members of the party, Chief Akin Ricketts, a former Commissioner for Information, notified me that he will like to make a consequential statement and in his honour, we decided that the meeting be held here.

“Ordinarily, the meeting should have been held in the party secretariat. We gave the waver, hence, we are here to hear him and he has made a pronouncement that gladding our hearts and brings excitement in the party.

“He has declared his intention to contest the central senatorial seat in the Senate, the declaration is timely; it is exciting and very interesting, that he wants to be senator in the senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the central senatorial district.”

Also speaking, the deputy publicity secretary of the Party (APC) Mr. Jonathan Ntui said “The incumbent government has made it easy for the party to take over the state.

“What happened today is a formal declaration of intent to run Senatorial election by Chief Akim Ricketts. We have met with him and advised him and we expect him to go and win the election”

“Gov Ayade’s government want to build Europe in Cross River State without starting one; it is evident that all the MOUs the government signed or entered into, none has come to reality. There is no one kilometre road anywhere in Cross River State that can be credited to this government.”
