The Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has declared Thursday, a work-free day in the state.
According to a press statement issued on Wednesday by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Yemi Olowolabi, the holiday is to enable public servants participate fully in the ongoing voters registration exercise which will end on August 31.
Governor Akeredolu, in the statement, said the work-free day is to enable all public officers who have not registered to do so, to avoid being disenfranchised.
He also urged public servants who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to take advantage of the period to do so as well as those who are eligible to participate in the electoral process.
The governor charged all council chairmen, religious and traditional leaders to encourage their subjects to register.
It would be recalled that the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise which was earlier extended by INEC by two weeks will end on 31st of August.
