Clergymen from Enugu East Senatorial District of Enugu State representing various Christian denominations, on Wednesday, offered special prayers for the success of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The Clerics, who converged on Agbani, the headquarters of Nkanu West Local Government Area for the Enugu East Senatorial District Inter-Denominational Prayer session for peaceful and credible general election in 2019, through the Bishop of Eha-Amufu Diocese (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Dan Nkemjika Olinga, stated that Gov. Ugwuanyi has performed creditably in office and deserves a second term to complete the good work he has started in the state.
Bishop Olinga therefore, prayed God to grant the governor a resounding victory at the forthcoming general election, and “shield him from any plot of the enemies”.
He also commended Gov. Ugwuanyi in a special way for the numerous infrastructural developments his administration has executed in “Nkanuland”, describing it as “unprecedented” and worthy of commendation.
The bishop added that “there is no Local Government in this zone that is not greeting God because of our governor and we know that if we pray very hard for him God will do it again”, stressing: “The one he will do if he comes back will be better than the one he has done”.
Praying further he said: “Our brother, His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, it is only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the just. You will not see the reward of the wicked because you have made the Lord who is your refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil shall befall you. Amen! Nor shall any plague come near you for He shall give His Angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways.
“Our Lord, we are presenting your servant (Ugwuanyi) before you and we are asking you, Jehovah, during the election your servant will win. Amen! Lord, you who brought him out will project him. Amen! Enemies shall not see you. Amen! Bad people shall not come across you. Amen! We stand on this Altar today to declare they will not succeed in the name of Jesus. Amen”.
Similar prayers were also offered for other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the zone at the well attended religious event.
