A civil society group, Global Hopes for The Sustainable Rights for the Less Privileged, has advised Nigeria and Abia electorates on who to vote for, in the forthcoming 2019 elections.
The group with members drawn from the thirty-six states in the federation, urged the people to vote in competent and credible candidates irrespective of political affiliations in the coming elections, regretting that the country and Abia in particular, had continued to be backwards in terms of development, due to the incompetence of those entrusted with power.
The group, in a statement issued to newsmen by the National President of GHSRLP and the Secretary-General, Obinna Ogubuike and forwarded to DAILY POST on Sunday afternoon, explained that the group, as a Civil Society Organization, was critically examining the current politicking in the country ahead of the February and March 2019 general elections.
The group disclosed that it was mobilizing eligible Nigerian voters to ensure that political moneybags and jobbers were not allowed to occupy offices, adding that it would make its position known on who to rally round in the upcoming polls.
According to Ogubuike, “In a recent survey will carry out, We discovered that lack of incompetence is the bane of lack of good governance in Abia state and Nigeria as a whole, which bred disaffection in youths, enticed corruption and promote poverty to the greatest extent, which grossly affect the less privilege in the state and the nation.
“We, as a group that promotes social services, Health, Education, transparency, responsive governance and a market led economy, we have decided to enlist to the electorates, credible candidates to support during the forthcoming general elections.
“This is a bid to guide the less privilege and others to vote into power the right candidates irrespective of their party affiliation. Nigerians and Abians should watch out soon, we are going to take a strong decision regards to the election coming up February 16 and March 2019.”
