2019 Election: Zamfara NBA threatens to drag Yari before ICC

Zamfara State chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has threatened to petition Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari to the International Criminal Court (ICC), Hague and other Security agencies, if he continues to suggest disruption of the forthcoming election.

Addressing newsmen at a news conference in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, the NBA chairman, Bello Galadi, said Governor Yari’s outburst to disrupt the election if his party is excluded from the general election was uncalled for and condemnable.

Recall that Governor Yari promised to disrupt election, should in case his party was excluded by INEC to partake in the election.

“As ambassadors of rule of law, we implore, the executive Governor to be calm and humble in dealing with the issue and invoke the path of rule of law, rather than self-help”, he added.

Galadi also cautioned the Governor against unnecessary and unjustifiable spending of public funds in the pursuit of his personal political enterprise at the expense of the downtrodden.

The NBA also expressed concern over the rampant cases of desecration of the holy Quranic in the state capital.

“We hereby condemn the act and urge government and security agencies to wake up and arrest the ugly act”, he added.

The NBA called on the public to support security agents to fish out people engaged in the desecration of the Holy Qur’an with a view to arraign them before the court of law.
