2019 election: PDP has surrendered Abia state to the devil – Guber candidate, Uwakolam

Emeka Uwakolam, the governorship candidate of the Accord Party, AP, has berated the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led government in Abia state over alleged poor performance since the inception of democratic governance in the country.

Uwakolam lamented that Abia was lagging behind in term of infrastructural development, pointing out that the decay in the state infrastructure had continued to hinder the economic growth of the state for the past 20 years.

The AP governorship candidate, who made his feelings known in an interview with newsmen in Umuahia on Friday, claimed that the state has been hijacked by few individuals, who had continued to mortgage the future of Abians.

He said, “Abia has been surrendered to devil. Some individuals are holding us hostage in our own state. Things has continued to go wrong in the state.

“Abia is lagging behind in term of infrastructural development. There is total decays in our infrastructures. This is the time to re-surrender the state to God. When God is in charge, there will be changes.

“We are in bondage. Abia belongs to all of us. It is the people that owns the state, not an individual. There is poverty in the state. There is no transparency and honestly in the present administration in Abia.

“In Abia today, people does not matter, the powers that be, only think about themselves, families and cohorts. We will change the narrative come March, 2019”.

Asked what the people of Abia should expect from him if elected as governor, Uwakolam said he would strengthen every institution of governance, eradicate the effects of godfatherism in the state and improve on the security architecture of Abia.

He said, “I have mapped seven points agenda my government will focus on. I will ensure that every kobo that enters the state will be accounted for.

“My administration will enthrone transparency and accountability in our affairs. I will declare emergency for the massive infrastructural development of Abia.”
