Reno Omokri, the former aide to immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari for endorsing Kano State Governor Umar Ganduje for second term.
Buhari had on Thursday threw his support behind Ganduje in Kano, despite corruption allegation against him.
On issue of corrupt charges against Ganduje, the president said he was a sitting Governor, enjoys immunity from prosecution in his own right and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Buhari, therefore, challenged his critics to prove that those facing corruption allegations are innocent, adding that the President’s zero tolerance for corruption has boosted and remarkably improved Nigeria’s image in the eyes of world leaders.
Reacting, Omokri took to his Twitter page querying Buhari’s fight against corruption.
The former presidential spokesman wondered why the president will endorse Ganduje accused of bribe and still claims to be fighting corruption.
Omokri wrote: “How can President @MBuhari endorse Gandollar( Umar Ganduje) of Kano for a second term and still pretend to fight corruption? Who is more corrupt than a man caught on camera collecting bribe?”
