Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-rufai, on Monday said his administration would ensure that the 2011 political violence that claimed 800 lives across the state does not happen again.

He spoke at a meeting with Muslim and Christian religious leaders from the 23 local governments in the state ahead of the 2019 election.

The governor appealed to them to sensitize people against violence next year.

He said: “The present administration will make sure that the 2011 political violence that claimed 800 lives across the stats does not repeat itself.”

El-Rufai warned that people should not be instigated against each other because of political differences.

“What happened in 2011 which claimed about 800 lives in the state must not be allowed to repeat itself. There is no need to cause crisis because of politics.

“People should be allowed to vote for people of their choice. I beg you to please educate and sensitize the people to always live in peace and harmony with each other.

“I want you as leaders to also tell them there is no need for crisis during election because God gives power to whomever He wishes”, the governor added.
