The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Tuesday, said the Buhari controversial order to the army and Police to deal ruthlessly with the electorate was unlawful.
He, therefore, urged the military not to execute orders manifestly unlawfully, no matter, who gives it.
In his words, “Military are not bound to execute orders manifestly unlawful no matter who gives it”.
Abubakar declared this during the PDP 84th NEC meeting at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
Also, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara said, “The unlawful order by Buhari cannot be obeyed. No law authorises any govt to kill anybody for snatching ballot boxes.
“It is an issue that can only be handled by law and, offenders punished according to the law.
“I have never seen a democratic president threatening his people with death”.
Nevertheless, the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus in his speech said by the Buhari order, he had rather authorised the military and police to rig polls under the pretext of dealing with ballot box snatchers for the APC.
He urged the electorate to resist the APC programmed violence and rigging of elections through the security agencies.
