The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on how to raise funds for its campaigns ahead of the general election.
According to APC, PDP must look for their own money if they want to campaign, and not government money.
The ruling party also advised the PDP to change its campaign tactics to stand a chance in the next election, adding that its (PDP) style of diverting public funds for politicking is now old-fashioned
The APC was reacting to PDP’s allegation on diversion of military funds.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, told Vanguard in Abuja that allegations by the PDP that the APC was diverting defence funds to political campaigns was nothing but absolute balderdash.
He said, “You know the PDP is reading from its own book and what they are talking about is what you will find there and it is only under PDP that such things happen and they need to throw that book away.
“As long as they continue to read that book, they won’t know that we are in an era of change.
“I am sure they are shocked that by this time of the year, less than two months to the election, there are no dollars flowing everywhere.
“That should be a lesson to them, Democracies that have advanced; that is how they went about it. If you want to campaign, look for your own money, don’t use government money to campaign.
“That is not the APC style. It is the style of the PDP to take money government money, money meant for infrastructure to give to traditional rulers in the name of seeking support for re-election. It is not the style of the APC.
“PDP is still reading from its old book and that is why we are asking Nigerians not to go back to Egypt.”
