2019 election: Anger, frustration as potential voters besiege INEC office to collect PVCs in Potisku

Complaints, outcries, regrets and frustration on Friday trailed the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Potiskum town, Yobe State.

A visit by DAILY POST to the Potiskum Local Government INEC office showed hundreds of potential electorate that besieged the area with the hope of securing their PVCs but where disappointed to be turned away and possibly disenfranchised in the upcoming general elections.

The angry, frustrated and discouraged electorate, who spoke with DAILY POST, said they were pained that that they won’t have their PVCs to elect candidates of their choice in the coming election.

They said the prevailing situation at the Potiskum local government INEC office has cast a gloom shadow on their hope.

Many of them said they have even lost counts of the days they have been visiting the INEC office and only to be turned away by the officials without providing them their PVCs, while some alleged that the action was a conspiracy theory.

However, efforts made by this reporter to reach out to INEC officials for comment on the Potiskum situation proved abortive.
