Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to send an Executive bill to the National Assembly for the creation of an additional state in the South-East before 2019 general election.
The group in a statement issued to newsmen by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Chuks Ibegbu, and forwarded to DAILY POST on Wednesday, noted that, “the South East lose more than a trillion Naira annually for having the least number of states and local government areas in the country, aside other shortchange in the civil service, security agencies, projects allocations, representation in the National Assembly.
Ohanaeze said,”If Buhari claims he has nothing against the area, he should do this statesmanly act at least as a beginning of the sign of better things”.
