Following the outcry that greeted the sale of nomination forms to aspirants seeking elective offices at the 2019 general elections, the Change Nigeria Party (CNP), has declared its nomination forms for young politicians seeking elective offices free.
The party said the decision was to encourage youths to actively participate in politics.
The National Chairman, Usman Ikeleji said the gesture was aimed at giving youths the opportunity to run in conformity with the “Not Too Young to Run Act.”
Ikeleji, through in a statement on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Temitope Awelewa, said it was wrong for parties to see nomination as an avenue to milk its aspirants.
According to him, “CNP sees the gesture as a means of giving vibrant youths the platform to aspire and take their rightful positions in government.”
Ikeleji disclosed that “the party has directed its local and state government chapters to give out the party forms for free.”
CNP boss noted that Nigeria would get better if the youth assumed elective positions and take active part in reforming Nigeria.
He said “internal arrangement is being put to place to manage the number of aspirants,” adding that no one would be imposed on the people.
