President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday said that nothing will come out of the alliance between former president Olusegun Obasanjo and leaders of pan-Yoruba social-political organization, Afenifere.

Obasanjo during a private visit to Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, at his residence in Akure, Ondo State, yesterday, had appealed to the group on the need to work together to repair Nigeria in 2019.

He called on the group to ensure that they played vital roles in Nigeria’s rebirth, through the 2019 general election.

Afenifere leader, Pa Fasoranti, after the meeting also drummed support for Obasanjo against the All Progressive Congress administration.

However, speaking through his Senior Special Assisitant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a chat with Daily Independent, President Buhari challenged both Obasanjo and Afenifere to come out with their voters and challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the coming election to see if they can defeat him.

He said, “I don’t see anything coming out of the alliance. The two of them, which party do they represent? If they have voters’ card, let’s meet at the polling station.”
