A faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State known as “Ondo APC Mandate”, has accused the State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, of deliberately causing friction and acrimony within the party.
The group, which spoke on Monday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, maintained that the alleged high-handedness of Gov. Akeredolu has greatly disintegrated and fictionalised the party in the state.
Chairman of the group, Comrade Olorunfemi Michael said the Governor deliberately created what is known in the state as “Aketi Group” as a way of shutting out other loyal members of the party.
“It is evidently clear to all and sundry in Ondo APC that anybody who is not a member of Aketi group within APC is not a bona-fide member of APC.
“This has gone a long way to create unnecessary opposition and division within the party in the state,” he said.
Michael, who called for the intervention of the party’s national leadership into the crisis, stated that with the situation of things at present, and the zero performance of the Akeredolu’s administration, it would be a herculean task for APC to secure victory come 2019.
“In fact, if not for some party stalwarts who are close to the presidency, 75 per cent of our members would have defected to other political parties.
“Before it is too late, we urge our national APC led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to as a matter of urgency, wade into Ondo APC crisis, because we don’t want Mr. President to lose in Ondo State.
“All what has been caused by Gov. Akeredolu in the state, is de-marketing the political future of both the APC and Mr. President. As it stands, Mr President cannot get 10 per cent votes from Akeredolu-led government if it continues like this.”
