2019: Be wary of politicians – Osun NYSC boss warns corps members

The Osun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Mr Emmanuel Attah has issued a stern warning to corps members participating in the 2019 general elections to remain apolitical and wary of selfish politicians.

Attah gave the warning during a sensitisation visit to all the local governments in the state, for the purpose of sensitising serving corps members on what is expected of them during the general elections.

“Corps member are not expected to fratanize with politicians or allow themselves to be used by politicians for their selfish aims and ambitions.

“The NYSC is apolitical, we do not belong to any political party and so, corps members as products of the scheme are expected to be apolitical and neutral during elections.

“You are to work with INEC as neutral agents to give credibility to the election, just like your predecessors have done in time past and just like the NYSC participation is known to give credibility to elections.

“You must uphold the standard of the scheme by deligently and credibly discharging the roles given to you during the elections and must not hobnob with politicians or their agents.

“Ensure to protect your name, the name of your family and the NYSC.

“Remember, anybody caught being used by politicians to truncate or disrupt the credibility of the election would be dealt with according to the electoral act and the law,” Attah said

He equally warned corps members going against the dress code of the NYSC, stating that the scheme would no longer take it lightly with them and that anyone caught violating the dress code would be severely dealt with.

“Any corps member that goes against the dress code of the NYSC or bastardise it would be seriously dealt with.

“Corps members should remember that they signed undertaken to uphold the rules and regulations of the scheme and dressing and dress code is part of it.

“Any corps member that does not dress properly or dress in flagrant violation of the NYSC laws or rules and regulations would be dealt with accordingly,” he warned.
