The Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, governorship candidate in Bauchi state, Alhaji Ahmed Iliyasu, has explained that he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for PDM due to purported internal crisis in the party.
The governorship candidate hinted this to newsmen in Bauchi Sunday.
Pointing out that he was among the founding fathers of the PDP and contested to be governor under the party at the completion of former Governor Adamu Muazu’s tenure, Iliyasu maintained that his defection to the PDM was due to injustice
“I defected to PDM from PDP due to internal crisis even as founding member of the PDP apparently to pursue my political career determined to contribute my quota in developing the state and that informed same decision to contest ahead of 2019 election,” he said.
The governorship hopeful described PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC, as a bad dream for Nigerians, stressing that PDM is the latest option that can rescue citizens from the rot brought about by the APC.
He charged INEC, security agents and stakeholders to ensure free and fair elections in 2019, enjoining stakeholders to discourages vote buying and rigging.
“The positive roles of INEC, security agents and of course stakeholders will determine the huge success of 2019 election, especially in ensuring free and fair exercise against vote buying and rigging to avoid violence,” he stated.
According to Iliyasu, Nigerians are tired of the misrule by APC and should vote out the APC by supporting PDM for improved development.
