2019: Bauchi lawmaker speaks on consequences of relocating collation centre

The Bauchi State Assembly member for Tafawa Balewa/Bula constituency, Aminu Tukur has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to relocate the existing collation centre from Zwall to forestall any violence Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa constituency

Tukur said this in a petition addressed to Bauchi INEC office obtained by DAILY POST on Monday.

The lawmaker added that it’s a gross violation of the Nigerian constitution for INEC to relocate collation centre away from Zwall with the allege tacit support of the All Progressives Congress.

“As a representative of my people in Tafawa Balewa, I should be officially contacted, including Speaker Yakubu Dogara for any political decision by INEC and I caution the electoral body not to relocate the collation centre to avoid violence,” said Tukur.

According to Tukur, INEC’s decision is viewed as an attempt to truncate democracy and to Jeopardize the peaceful co-existence of our people.

Tukur urged the electoral body to discard any decision of relocating the collation centre for the best interest of peace in the areas.

” Zwall is our choice of collation centre for Dass, Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa constituency,” added Tukur.
