At least seven presidential aspirants are presently looking to contest the 2019 elections under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The party’s acting chairman in Anambra State, Chief Vincent Obi, revealed this to newsmen in Awka the state capital, during the flag off of the registration exercise in the 21 local government areas of the state.
“Information reaching us says that about seven presidential aspirants have indicated interest to run for the presidential election under the platform of SDP but as it is now nobody has been anointed by the party or earmarked for the post of number one citizen position under the party,” Obi said.
He also said that about 60 Senators have also indicated their interest to run under SDP.
According to Nigerian Tribune, Obi named some of the presidential hopeful.
They include: Senate President Bukola Saraki former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Speaker of the House of Representative and Sokoto state Governor, Barrister Aminu Tambuwal, former Senate President David Mark, the Governor of Gombe state, Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo among others.
