The All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio to join its fold, adding that the party would ensure it takes over power in Akwa Ibom state as it recently did in Ekiti state.
National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who was represented by the party’s National Vice Chairman (South south), Ntufam Hilliard Eta stated this on Saturday during a solidarity and endorsement rally organized by the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State at Ikot Ekpene Stadium.
According to Oshiomhole, “We invite the Senate minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio to come over to APC, that is the right place that he belongs.
“Come over to APC, let us move the party forward”.
He maintained, “What happened in the Ekiti election shows what will happen in 2019 in Akwa Ibom. Let Udom Emmanuel be prepared to answer our question, where is our money? Udom’s days are numbered. He used the resources of poor people to sponsor election in Ekiti. APC will be in that hilltop mansion in Akwa Ibom. Deacon Emmanuel and others will cry again. We will continue to ask them: Udom, Wike, Fayose, where is our money?
“It has become very plain that it is not only Fayose that is crying. Although Fayose is the leader of the gang of criers who want to generate unnecessary pity, he is not the only one crying. Udom Emmanuel is also crying. Wike is crying. Ben Ayade is crying. They shall cry until APC wins all elections.
“The election in Ekiti State is an evidence that we shall defeat the wailers in 2019; it shows that our great party is determined to win. We had an election that was free and fair and APC won and celebrated the victory because Ekiti people are tired of fraudulent government.”
The APC National Chairman thanked Akwa Ibom people for their immense contributions to the party, saying, “I thank Akwa Ibom State for their contributions to our last national convention. There are many ways of honouring our dear President. We thank the President who had offered himself to salvage Nigeria in 2015 and is still willing to redeem the country from the hands of looters.”
He further explained that President Muhammadu Buhari was building a Nigeria of credible, transparent and accountable leadership hence the need to overthrow PDP especially in the South-south region.
In his remarks, President Buhari thanked the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District for their solidarity, endorsement and support to return in 2019 for a second term.
The President, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang, used the occasion to highlight his projects and numerous appointments given to sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State and promised to do more in due course.
Recall that during a recent solidarity rally organized by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ikot Ekpene senatorial district in honour of Gov. Emmanuel and Senator Akpabio, the latter openly declared that he would not mind being in any party that would return him to the Senate in 2019.
