A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Perekeme Kpodoh, has declared that Bola Tinubu remains the last hope of the party.
Kpodoh made the declaration while stressing that Tinubu’s reconciliation move will determine the fate of the party in the 2019 general elections.
In a statement he signed, the APC chieftain noted that the input and effort of the former Lagos State Governor would help to re-unite the party and present a formidable front ahead of the 2019 elections.
He also called on the APC national Chairman, John Oyegun to resign, following the crisis rocking the party.
The statement reads, ”Tinubu is a politician and he is capable of returning the party on course with internal dynamic of politics. He is capable man for the job
“Chief John Oyegun and others should resign and allow true reconciliation. The 20 governors purported to be backing him are selfish and self-centered.
“Oyegun has lost the confidence of many party members from the states of the selfish governors.
“Oyegun can no longer provide the quality leadership that will ensure that a convention is held without rancour.
“Instead of handling issues from state, Oyegun runs to PMB at all time. It does not show quality leadership.
“That is why I must commend the president, Muhammadu Buhari, for asking for time from these selfish governors asking him to declare his second term intention amidst a burning house.
“Right now, the progressive minded people of Nigeria wants President Muhammadu Buhari to come back in 2019, but he must put his house in order and put certain things right.
“If the APC is not put in order, we may lose some states. Tinubu’s input will calm frayed nerves and re-energise party members towards victory in 2019.”
