2019: Akume opens up on alleged plots to remove Ortom as Benue governor

The Senator representing Benue North West Senatorial District, Senator Dr. George Akume has refuted media reports that he is currently scouting for a replacement of the state governor, Samuel Ortom, ahead of the 2019 elections.

Akume, a former governor of the state said his support for Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom was intact and has no reason to work against the governor.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain made this disclosure when Gwer women under the auspices of “Ortom/ Akume Mothers 2019″ paid him a familiarization visit at his Makurdi residence.

According to him, ”the emergence of Governor Samuel Ortom as the Chief Executive Officer of the state was divine, despite the many road blocks that the former Governor, Gabriel Suswam had set against the Ortom governorship project.”

“The speculations were the stock in trade of wicked elements who plundered the resources of the state and now that they are sent packing.

‘The evil gang is praying for disunity among stakeholders of the current government so that they could leverage on that to wrestle power but God will forbid their plans,” Akume added.

Senator Akume, who said PDP as a party needs the forgiveness of Nigerians and not their votes, challenged his critics to also bring their impact records to the table.

He urged the Gwer mothers to sustain their support for Governor Ortom’s re-election and his Senatorial ambition as he was not tired of representing them at the upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
