Former Minority Leader in the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has claimed that his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will stem the tide of movements from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Channels Television’s Roadmap 2019 on Monday night, Akpabio claimed people were shocked he left the opposition party and joined the APC.
“People cannot get over the fact that I have moved, even me. I am as surprised as they are.
“I can’t apologise for moving, I moved to stem the tide of movements.
“Any movement from the PDP now would be towards me (APC), but not much movement would be from the APC to PDP,” the former Akwa Ibom Governor said.
The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), had last week declared that Akpabio’s defection to the APC, would not save him from probe.
Sagay stated that those whose cases had already been taken to court would continue to face prosecution.
The senior lawyer, however, said there was room for plea bargain, an option he noted stubborn people would never use.
