2019 AFCON: What Okocha said about Nigeria’s game against Madagascar

Former Nigeria captain, Austin Okocha issued a strong warning to the Super Eagles before their final Group B clash at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations against Madagascar.

Madagascar shocked the Super Eagles 2-0 in the played on Sunday evening.

Okocha told Gernot Rohr’s men that the debutants are a difficult team to get past.

The former midfielder highlighted the qualities of the Island Nation, adding that they must have done their homework before facing their opponents in Group B.

When the draw was made, everybody thought Nigeria and Guinea would be the first and second-placed teams in the group but Madagascar currently sit in first, with Nigeria in second position.

Speaking as an analyst on SuperSport, Okocha said, ”They recognized their opportunity of making names for themselves and in football if you get it right on the day you can cause an upset.

”I think they deserve to be in the position that they are because they have done a lot, a lot of research as well because they came into this tournament with a game plan.

”They have been solid and very disciplined, they are a very tough side to beat.”
